Ten Tips for Using Gospel Tracts

By Massimo Lorenzini

Tracts are great tools for witnessing. Whether you simply let the tract do the witnessing or you use it as an icebreaker to open a conversation, the key is to use them.

Here are some tips:

  1. Get a supply of good tracts.[1]
  2. Keep them handy in your car, near your front door, at your desk or place of work, etc.
  3. Have one or two with you at all times (you can keep them with your wallet and keys when home so you will remember to take them with you).
  4. Look for opportunities to offer one (with a co-worker, neighbor, mailman, cashier, server, include with a bill payment, be creative!).
  5. Offer an appropriate tract to the individual (you can’t go wrong with the Gospel of John).
  6. Smile and say something as simple as, “You’re doing a great job. This is something for you.”
  7. Ask the person to consider reading it; maybe offer a reason why they should read it.
  8. If you want to offer them to a stranger, just say something like, “Did you get one of these?” This will cause them to be curious about it and not want to be left out of receiving one.
  9. Be aware of opportunities to offer a verbal witness to those you give a tract to. Many people are open to hearing a Christian tell the way of salvation.
  10. Pray regularly for the Lord to use you in your witnessing ministry.

[1] The Pocket Testament League provides the Gospel of John, see www.pocketpower.org; Ray Comfort has some unique tracts, see www.livingwaters.com; the Two Ways to Live booklet is available at www.mathiasmedia.com; the Ultimate Questions booklet is also very good (www.cvbbs.com has the best price).
